Chicken exports from Brazil soar in May
Brazilian exports of chicken meat totaled 381,100 tons in May, up 14.4% over the same period last year.
The Brazil , which is the largest global exporter of the product, is being benefited from a surge in sales to China , which according to the African swine fever impacts has increased meat imports.
Feeling the positive effects of higher prices, revenues from poultry shipments from Brazil, considering all products, including fresh and processed, jumped 27.3% to US $ 658.9 million .
Chicken meat sales in the country to China were the highlight of the month. The Asian country imported 54,800 tons in May, volume 49% higher than that effected in the same period last year, according to ABPA.
China's pig farms, the largest global consumer of the product, are being reduced strongly, with the country trying to control swine fever, a disease that causes deaths of pigs, but is harmless to humans.
